When it comes to OG suspension companies, Air Lift is arguably the oldest. They’ve been doing this stuff since 1949, so they’ve seen all the trends come and go. So how have they kept going for over 75 years now? Let’s find out in this week’s Brand Spotlight.
Helping your ride out.
One of the first applications of air bags back in the day was as a helper spring. Back when cars were relatively new, if you overloaded a truck bed or put too much stuff in your trunk you were out of luck. Now take that same problem and multiply it for commercial vehicles. Sounds pretty rough, right?
It’s why Air Lift put out some of the first helper bags way back when, and they’ve been doing it ever since. For example, we sell their Universal Slam Air Rear Air Bag Helper Kit, which helps your lowered truck carry an extra load. Another example is this 2009–2018 Dodge Ram 1500 Rear Air Bag Helper Kit. It looks and functions just like one of their original kits, but it’s for a modern vehicle. That’s good stuff right there.
Air Lift also does air management.
Now back in the day you’d have to lift up your rear helper bags with some tiny line, a T fitting and gas station air, but now Air Lift can hook you up with products like their Air Lift Wireless Air Tank plus EZ Mount. It’s an air tank and compressor system with a bracket, controller and all the other goodies you need. You can control the height of your rear air bags from outside of your vehicle, and with the dual-path model featured you can even do each individual corner.
You can do the same thing without all of the complicated stuff using the Air Lift WirelessAir App Only, No Controller + EZ Mount. It uses the same mounting system, a heavy duty compressor and a manifold, but you use an app on your phone instead of a controller. There’s no tank, so it’s got a smaller footprint, which is better for some of our customers. It’s a nice solution to have on deck if you need it.
Learn from the best.
Air Lift has been in the air suspension industry for so long now that we don’t know too many people who have been around without it. They know their stuff, particularly when it comes to the helper bag world. Which means if you’re in the market to add some carrying capacity to your truck or just want to ensure you’re towing safely, looking at a setup from Air Lift is a pretty good idea.
